Summary

This story of love, loss and learning takes form in a middle age man’s adventure as he trucks along the dessert only to be interrupted by a cracking sky and a lost alien! As the world quite literally falls apart around him, he must learn to let go of his grief for his lost daughter and his new green friend if he wants to stop his world from breaking into pieces…

How was it made?

Hitchhiker was created as part of the Animation Production Studio class at Columbia College Chicago over the course of two Semesters, at the time of its publishing was the the longest film ever produced in APS.

Participating in the concept art, layouts and animation made me shift my attention from a more self focused career path to a more team based ideology. My passion for working with other artist was born during this class and I will forever be thankful to the students and my professor.

The Candle City

My independent short film follows the story of a wax man living out his daily life in a city carved into the side of a candle and builds curiosity as to what might happen when the candle is lit.

This short film’s purpose was to mimic the world establishing shots of many popular animated films, such as; Monsters, Inc. , Ratatouille, and Robots.

Summary

The candle city was made of the course of two semesters at College of Dupage. I storyboarded it in one night, created all the art, and animated it in Adobe. the Candle city was my first time experimenting independently and was a challenge that tested my love for animation. I ended up with a film that I can look back on with pride at the personal struggles I overcame. I will forever be grateful to my professor who believed in me even when I did not and submitted my film to NATAS.
